Is your Least Cost Routing costing you too much?

Like most South African businesses, you probably installed your Least Cost Routing (LCR) system – what many call a Premicell – years ago in an attempt to reduce the cost of calls to cellphone.

However, if – like so many others – you’ve neglected to update your LCR contract regularly, you’re probably paying far too much for these calls.

Many businesses also have LCR contracts with more than one of the cellular network operators because calls to the same network tend to be lower than calls between different networks.

When you don’t review your LCR contracts as they expire, they simply roll over from month to month at your existing contract call rates – even if cell phone call rates in general have dropped. Which they have. Significantly.

The result is that the prices you continue to be charged for calls to cellphones are much higher than those available on the latest LCR contracts.

In fact, Du Pont has come across absurd instances where a business’s LCR contract is so outdated that they would actually reduce their telephone bills by simply throwing out their LCR and paying standard Telkom-to-cellphone rates.

Now, Cell C is shaking up the entire LCR market with a deal that is really worth considering.

Not only are its charges for calls to local and national landline numbers extremely competitive, Cell C’s charges for calls to all the mobile networks are considerably lower than anything else currently available.

Importantly, call charges to all the mobile networks are exactly the same, which means there is no need to purchase more than one LCR package.

In addition, the new Cell C LCR package offers a viable alternative to VoIP (Voice over IP) for smaller businesses that cannot afford or justify the cost of the high-speed ADSL connectivity required for quality, bandwidth-hungry VoIP telephony.
